Alexandra Riggs, M.A., LPC Associate, NCC
Alexandra Riggs, M.A., LPC Associate is under the supervision of Connie M. Siciliano Avila, Ph.D., LP, LPC-Supervisior. Alexandra earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grace College, which is a CACREP accredited program. During Alexandra’s clinical training, she worked in a private practice providing individual therapy with children to adults, who struggled with various issues, such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, addiction, trauma, and grief. Additionally, she worked in a chemical dependency rehabilitation unit that served individuals in both inpatient and intensive outpatient programs. Currently, Alexandra works for a trauma partial hospitalization program in association with the world renown, Colin A. Ross Institute for Psychological Trauma.
Alexandra feels specifically drawn to working with individuals who have experienced trauma because of her own family member’s experience of trauma. Through her loved one’s healing process, she learned about the difficult outcomes of trauma; however, at the same time, she observed how her loved one redefined self to create purpose and joy in life. She realized that it only takes one person to break the cycle of trauma within a family. She believes that her training and mindset of continuous learning equips her to work with a diverse population with various struggles. She wants potential clients to know that clients do not have to go through a painful journey alone; through building a safe relationship, she will work together with clients towards healing.
